Passage: Isaiah 7:10-14
We like to think we have gotten smarter, better, stronger, than those of ancient cultures. Yet, like the people Isaiah is prophesying to, we want signs and symbols that remind us of God’s presence and God’s work in our lives. As Isaiah is prophesying regarding the exile God’s people will endure under Babylon, he also promises the hope of a Messiah who will rescue them. This rescue though, will be for more than just a lifetime, and it the Messiah will come from one of the most unlikely places.
