Passage: Luke 14:7-14

In Biblical culture, and even in our culture today, the host of a party or event often gets the best seat at the party, right next to the guest of honor. Jesus is at a dinner party at the house of a leader among the Pharisees and notices that they all took the best seats at the party. In the parable of the wedding feast, Jesus reminds them, and teaches us, that in God’s Kingdom, it is the humble that are exalted, and the proud that are made low. So we too, have the opportunity to build up, encourage, and lift up, those we interact with, to show them the value they have in God’s Kingdom.
