Passage: John 6:22-35
People were seeking Jesus to work the miracle they wanted Him to work. They had found a healer who could do the seemingly impossible, and everyone wanted the experience from Jesus. But, that’s not why Jesus came. It wasn’t why He was working miracles. His purpose was the salvation of mankind through His own death and resurrection. His teaching was bringing the truth of God into people’s lives to direct them in the path that would bring them abundant joy. His healing was so that people would see the incredible mercy and grace of God through Him. Too often we turn to God for the things we think we want or need, and we get upset, we lose hope, when He doesn’t provide. But, in Christ, we are reminded that our perspective is often very short of God’s purpose.
