Passage: Hebrews 12:3-11

God’s purpose through us is not for our own happiness. He has promised us abundant joy in His truth and grace, but our happiness is fleeting, and often focused on, well, ourselves. But, as disciples of Jesus, God’s purpose through us is for His glory, honor and praise, not our own. His purpose through us is that the whole world might be saved in the death and resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ. As the writer to the Hebrews reminds us, how God loves us in His truth is not so that we are happy, but so that He is glorified and praised.
