Passage: Matthew 1:1-17
Shortly after the story of the Tower of Babel, humans were more divided than ever before – by physical distance and by language. This is a theme we know all too well. Even with the language translation tools we have today, we still have trouble understanding one another’s motivations. Our political, social, and economic ideologies drive a wedge between us. After the Tower of Babel, God called Abram and offered him a greater purpose, a purpose beyond himself – for all people. From division, God brought a message and called a servant to share His love to the ends of the earth. Jesus ultimately fulfilled God’s promise, that Abraham’s descendants would be a blessing to all people.
