Jesus tells us to knock on the door and He will open it. In the context of teaching on prayer and God’s providence for each of us, Jesus is encouraging His disciples to turn in faith to God for everything they need. Unfortunately, this has often been misunderstood to include our faith and life as a disciple of Jesus is totally dependent on us initiating the relationship with God. But, what does Scripture teach about God’s work in our life, the Spirit’s responsibility in working faith and transformation in each of us?
