Passage: Jonah 3:10-4:4
The story of the prophet Jonah is one of repentance, but it doesn’t happen in the way you might expect. The prophet of God ran away and was swallowed up into the belly of a whale. Only then did he turn to the Lord, and that was only half-hearted. The people of Nineveh, on the shallow words of a very cheaply-spoken sermon, repented and turned to the Lord, and He was merciful. Why should we care about the spiritual life of our enemies, and shouldn’t we be happy when they repent? As God asks Jonah, “Do you do well to be angry?”
