Many of us grew up hearing something to the affect of, “God helps those who help themselves.” It was almost always in the context of how we needed to try harder, be better, or just put in more effort. But, throughout Scripture, there is no evidence of this truth! In fact, Scripture teaches, God helps those who cannot help themselves – you and me – and sets us free from our sin in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He did for each of us, what we could never do for ourselves, and He does it every day in His truth and grace.
